The Newport Residence
Doug & Jan Newport's home located at:
11301 SW 91st Court Tigard, Oregon 97223
Resided with Cedar Lap in front and Cedar panels on the other 3 sides

Front of house:                Photo number and explanation
#1  Inside corner in front over caulked
#2  Front windows left of entry sloppy caulk Board #4 from top is already bowing as is top board.
#3  Caulk covers all the boards  left of door jamb.  It will be obvious when painted.
#4  Right of front door jamb:  Broken and not repaired corner trim piece.
#19  Over garage door in front:  a rip piece should have been cut and put at top.  Also the seams are good, approximately 1/6" - 1/8"  but the caulk is smeared over a 1 inch area.
#21 Over garage
#23  Rake wall in front: Inaccurate angle cut at rake over entry.
#24  At front windows left of entry Split Board
#25  Lots of caulk on these boards but NOT in seam against front entry light.
#26  Ceiling in entry above front door:  corner board too long and area is missing caulk

Right Side:   To views this next set  of  photos click here:  Right Side

#15  Outside vorner at right side
#16  Caulking between window and door on right side.

Back:
#10   Head flashing installed or caulking at rear entry door.
#11  Trim execution questionable as being an acceptable  local building practice- again no head flashing at the door.
#13  Caulk detail in back @ window
#14  Outside sorner @ back right trim butt joints are rather rough and filled with caulk rather than cutting the proper length.
#28  Many nails in this 1 foot square with one only half into the wood. Above window over the deck
# 29  Back deck damaged by sawsall usw

Left Side:
#5 Left Side Nails breaking through panel edges from angle nailing too close to groove.
#6  Damaged seam left in this condition.
#7 Grooves left and right of center are the width the seam in middle should be.
#8  Caulking that didn't quite fill the space and wet sawdust left on wall ans stuck to caulk.
#9  Panel on the left is set upon the Z metal (not good)  although the panel on right does not set the same this inconsistency encompasses the whole house.
